I bought this kit in 2020 but it's not really new because this kit is from 2017. The original - the real truck is one of the most famous trucks from 1993 in the European markets, with the highest sales figures. This model is the II. part of the generation, this series debuted in 2002 and was on the market until 2021. In fact this type of front wall dates until 2008 a time when there was a slight facelift and new outlookong.

Fun fact that the manufactuer (Italeri) is also a little confused beacuse theres is on the pictures of box is the version of facelift not the real scale model.

The difference is basically that on the front wall of the original MK2 FH16 the words VOLVO and FH16 are written separately on the body and after the 2008 versions a strip was placed on the upper radiator grille and these were written on it. The lower radiator grille is also different but essentially the other elements remain.

This fault can no longer be found in the model itself but there are a few small differences between the box image and the actual model tractor. When I bought the scale model I wanted to build the truck that picture theres is on the box because I really liked this matte black design, to which the stickers were "tuned". But as I looked at the couple of built modell I came across on the net I realized that I don't want to install the grille on the front - because it just doesn't look good in my opinion. Anyway, I tried to "cut" the grid, but during the tests I realized that I didn't like it that way, so I left it out completely. I also left out the "sound horns" completely, because no matter how I tried I didn't like them, I found them too big. It is also interesting that the truck design is starting to schangeing with the chrome parts, modern trucks have less and less of this classic chrome "at all costs", so I thought so too.

I also thought about the body color, because I didn't like the matte black vehicles I saw online. It would probably have been more interesting from the point of view of the sticker, as the sticker elements would have blended in better that way, but the base color itself didn't come out that way. Since I didn't like the French license plate given to the set either so I changed it to a Swiss one. Regarding the upper lights I installed five pieces versus four places and did not use all the stickers from the box.

I recently came across an interesting line of acrylic paints from brand Green Stuff World, which ultimately defined the basic concept. This paint set "Metalic Paint" has very nice colors and really gives a very nice metallic effect. I chose the basic color of the truck from this series, which ended up being 1872- Neptunis Blue - Metallic paint, because I fell in love with this color. Tell the true this range of color ara optimal for a figures painting but with good technik this is a super chose for a truck too. In my oppinion as I see the weakness of this paint range that not too easy clean the airbrush.

What about the model? From my point of view nothing special. When you have you built ever Italeri truck model you know the process and this is a same level. As far as I’m concerned, I love this kit.
